Wieland-Gymnasium

Since 2012 our education partnership with the Wieland Gymnasium has been an integral and pioneering part of our educational work.

In collaboration with the teachers, we develop object- and action-oriented education modules with contemporary relevance. This way the modules coordinate with the educational plans and become incorporated into the school’s curriculum. The range of modules corresponds with our kaleidoscopic collection: municipal history, visual arts, natural history, and archaeology.

Students attending the grades 5 to 12 receive their tuition at the museum during specified periods. The modules are prepared and revised at school and carried out at the museum. The museum becomes an out-of-school classroom. Lessons are given a regional context and intensified. Regional culture and art are made accessible by “opening the showcase”.
