Mali Gemeinschaftsschule

Project »Mali Detektive«

»Mali Detektive« (Mali Detectives) is our education partnership with the Mali Gemeinschaftsschule (=combined primary and secondary school) in Biberach. One project of the »Mali Detektive« are the interactive educational games in our collections:

As part of the program »Kultur macht stark« / »Museum macht stark« (Culture Makes Us Strong / Museums Make Us Strong), twelve students explore a museum topic and formulate their insights so they can convey them to their peers. The program takes place annually from February to September and concludes with a public project presentation in autumn.

Mali Detectives 10: »And what's delicious at your place?«

The educational partnership between Museum Biberach, Mali-Gemeinschaftsschule and Jugend Aktiv e.V. will celebrate its tenth anniversary in 2025. As part of the project »And what's delicious at your place?«, pupils from the Mali Community School embarked on an extraordinary journey of discovery, exploring the museum through the themes of food and culture.

Which works of art provide interesting information on the subject? What do Fischer's Friends and Biberach have in common? How did people actually cook in the Stone Age?
The young researchers also explored other topics, such as fasting in different cultures, the role of bread as a staple food, and the origin of the ingredients used by some bakeries in Biberach. They conducted a survey on these topics. One important topic was »soul food«, meaning » your favorite food«. Against this backdrop, the pupils considered how this relates to their cultural background.

The Mali detectives recorded all these findings in a brochure, together with various recipes compiled by the participants (in German).

The educational partnership is made possible by »Museum macht stark«, a program of the Deutscher Museumsbund e.V. and is part of »Kultur macht stark« which supports local cultural education projects throughout Germany and is an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
