Studio House of Jakob Bräckle, Winterreute
The exhibition »Albrecht Schäfer. Auf freiem Feld« [Albrecht Schäfer. In the Open Field] is a poetic intervention. This artistic exploration is located in the studio house of Jakob Bräckle (1897–1987). Taking this special place as a starting point, Albrecht Schäfer (*1967) reflects on perception, nature, and creative processes. What characterizes Bräckle’s studio house? Located on the outskirts of Winterreute, it blends unobtrusively into the surrounding landscape. Unique in its simplicity, it consists of a studio, a small parlor, and a bedroom, and has neither electricity nor running water.
Exploration of space plays an important role in Albrecht Schäfer’s installations. They enter into a dialogue with their surroundings, offering a new perspective on the specific spatial situations and reflecting on the potential for artistic expression. The artist typically draws inspiration from everyday objects and natural materials. Through subtle gestures of displacement, repetition, and alienation, the seemingly familiar is removed from its usual context. The artistic process generates new situations while simultaneously honing our ability to discern the essential. Dissecting the seemingly mundane can open up new perspectives.
Jakob Bräckle's studio is located at Winterreute 57, 88400 Biberach.
