Weaving in Action
Weaving Museum
22.02.2025
2:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Biberach is an old weaving town, part of the Upper German linen region since the Middle Ages. In the 14th century, under the leadership of Ulm and Augsburg, the region switched to barchent weaving. Barchent was a mixed fabric made from local linen and imported cotton. This cloth was warmer and more colorful than traditional linen and became a sought-after commodity.
Visitors can experience the art of weaving every Saturday from 2pm to 5pm and by appointment (museum@biberach-riss.de, 07351 51 331).
Self-woven placemats are available for purchase in the museum shop.
